My practice was tested or implemented in:

Give a brief outline of your promising practice:

It's a part of my architecture PhD research on the migrant camps at the south border between Spain and África. In that area migrants are forced to inhabit natural areas under extreme conditions by themselves. I designed many types of 3D- printed joints which might be used to create truss structures with recycled bars such as tree branches, brooms or other bar-like objects which are the ready avaiable materials for this comunities.

The project is a part of a much wider research which I would be glad to share with you if interested. I include the first part as an attatchment. It's in spanish though.

The main lessons learned during the process of implementing or testing my practice:

I learnt that the comunity has developed a very interesting network to obtain materials from the environment and local ecologies and have mastered very efficient shelter typologies which should be protected. These designs could help to improve with small efforts their construction capabilities which have a direct influence on their quality of life.

What is the significance of your experience/practice:

A PhD is an altruist work which a priori is not expected to be built. I took it as an opportunity to design for the most vulnerable collectives which could never afford a technitian's assistance and explore what architecture could do for them.

I would be interested in working with UNHCR Innovation Service to further document my practice or lessons learned:
